Kevin McCarthy decided to never

Congress
bby Nathan'ette Burdine: December 31, 2023

Less than three months after tweeting, “I never quit,” Kevin (Kev Kev) McCarthy announced he is “departing the House at the end of this year.”

And what is the end of every year?! December 31, 2023, New Year’s Eve! Kev Kev, of course, will deny he’s quitting and that he’s leaving Congress on New Year’s Eve.

Here’s what he’ll most likely tell reporters:

“I’m not going anywhere…Look, my leaving Congress does not
mean I’m leaving politics. There are many ways to be a part of
the political process. I’m just using other means to engage in the
political process. That’s all. As far as leaving at the end of this
year, all I said was ‘I will be departing the House at the end of
this year.’ The emphasis is on ‘this.’ And the end of ‘this year’ is
the end of the Congressional Session which is December 13th, not
December 31st, New Year’s Eve. So yeah, ya’ know, ‘I will be
departing the House at the end of this year,’ December 13th.
     Thanks guys.”

Here’s the thing, though, folks, retiring=quitting=leaving. And the end of “this year” is the end of every year which is December 31, 2023, New Year’s Eve.

Therefore, today, December 31, 2023, Kev Kev is doing what he tweeted that he’ll never do, ‘quit.’
